Legendary India National Cricket Team and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni finally came to bat in the middle in the 13th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) against the Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 31.

In the first two matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, MS Dhoni didn’t come to bat as the rest of the batters of the team did the job well. However, in the match against Delhi Capitals (DC), CSK needed MS Dhoni’s heroics down the order after the top-order batters failed to deliver while chasing the score.

MS Dhoni walked out to bat to huge applause from the crowd after the dismissal of the star batter Shivam Dube in the 17th over for 18 runs. As Dhoni came to bat, the fans in the stadium erupted in joy and the legendary wicketkeeper-batter made sure that he entertained the crowd with his sensational batting.

MS Dhoni showed his vintage avatar and smashed a brilliant four on the first ball he faced in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Dhoni wasn’t done there as he continued his batting brilliance and played some absolutely amazing strokes.

MS Dhoni’s bat speed was as usual incredible and he smashed 37 runs off 16 balls. His innings was studded with 4 fours and 3 tremendous sixes. Dhoni was involved in an unbeaten 51-run partnership in 23 balls with Ravindra Jadeja. However, the duo weren’t able to help Chennai Super Kings (CSK) win the match.

In the end, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were restricted to a score of 171/6 and they faced their first loss under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad by 20 runs against the Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC).

Coming back to MS Dhoni, he brought out his best in the last over against Delhi Capitals (DC) as he smoked the premier Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje for 20 runs in the last over.

Dhoni started off the over with a four and followed it up with an outrageous one-handed six over the mid-wicket region. Then, the former CSK skipper hit a four and a six on the 4th and the 6th ball to collect 20 runs off the over.

Looking at MS Dhoni’s vintage cameo with the bat, former Australia National Cricket Team player Tom Moody took to his official X handle to state that the result of the match would have gone in the favour of Chennai Super Kings had Dhoni come to bat before Ravindra Jadeja and Sameer Rizvi.

“MS Dhoni has still got that magic with bat in hand, might have been a different outcome if he batted ahead of Rizvi and Jadeja! #DCvCSK,” former Australia National Cricket Team player wrote on X.

Dhoni’s former CSK and India teammate Suresh Raina also took to his official X handle to express his admiration for the legendary wicketkeeper-batter. He said that the way Dhoni hits the ball at the age of 42 is just incredible.

“Inspiration knows no age! Witnessing @msdhoni Mahi Bhai’s incredible batting prowess at 42 is a testament to his unparalleled spirit and dedication,” Suresh Raina wrote on X.
