Watch: MS Dhoni in awe of Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube's monstrous sixes during net session

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) keeper-batter MS Dhoni was in awe of the brilliant six-hitting of Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube ahead of the game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The curtain raiser of the IPL 2024 will take place at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Friday (22nd March). 

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have left no stone unturned in their preparations for the first game of the IPL 2024. They will be one of the favorites heading into the tournament because of the balance they have in the team coupled with experience and the youngsters, which in itself makes a deadly combo.

The spotlight will be on MS Dhoni in the entire IPL 2024 as it is expected to be his last season in the league. He handed over the captaincy of the team to young Ruturaj Gaikwad on the eve of the tournament and will be featured as a keeper-batter in the tournament. 

However, his presence will be extremely important for all the players in the team and it would be a great thing for young captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to have MS Dhoni’s back. The keeper-batter was also keenly observing everyone in the practice session and passing on his input. 

This was quite evident when Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube were having a six-hitting session in the nets. The keeper-batter seemed impressed with both the left-handers as they hit monstrous sixes, which left the former skipper of the team awestruck. The video of MS Dhoni getting impressed with his players was posted by the franchise.

Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube will be vital cogs in the wheel for Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming season. Both played a huge role for the team last year in winning their 5th title. A similar kind of impact would be expected from both of them this time around as well. 

Shivam Dube was used as a hitting specialist by the CSK last year and he changed the course of the game many times for his team. Jadeja on the other hand will be equally important for the team with both bat as well as the ball. If he plays to his best, CSK will have a huge chance to defend their title. 

“I have Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) in the team”- Ruturaj Gaikwad on captaining Chennai Super Kings 

Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the game against RCB opened up about taking over the captaincy of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He expressed his excitement and stated that he was not worried because he has MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ravindra Jadeja on the team. Speaking to CSK, he stated: 

“It feels good, obviously it’s a privilege to lead the team. It’s a huge responsibility and I am excited because of the kind of group we have. Everyone’s experienced enough, so not much to worry about. 

“I have Mahi bhai in the team, Jaddu bhai (Ravindra Jadeja), Ajju bhai (Ajinkya Rahane), so nothing much to worry about. I am just looking forward to enjoying.” 

It remains to be seen how will Ruturaj Gaikwad fare as a leader in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings. He would be eager to start his stint on high with a win over RCB.
