Chennai Super Kings (CSK) seem to have discovered another gem in Sameer Rizvi and MS Dhoni‘s reaction after the former hit a six said it all.
The five-time IPL champions signed up the highly-rated batsman at the last auction for a whopping INR 8.4 crores. The likes of Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals also bid big for the youngster but CSK eventually got their man. While CSK usually don’t spend big on uncapped players, they made an exception for Sameer Rizvi after he impressed in the domestic circuit.
While he is yet to make his debut in international cricket, it has not stopped the fans from comparing him with Suresh Raina, one of Uttar Pradesh’s most decorated batters. In fact, Sameer Rizvi is fondly called the right-handed Raina by many.

Sameer Rizvi made his IPL made last week during the game between CSK and RCB but did not get the chance to bat. He finally got the chance to bat on Tuesday (March 26) during the game against Gujarat Titans and did not take long to announce his arrival.
The youngster was facing Rashid Khan, arguably the best T20 spinner in the world, and hit him for a big six on the very first ball he faced in the IPL. It was a full-length delivery on the pads from the leg spinner and Sameer Rizvi slog-swept it over deep backward square leg for a maximum. Two balls later, the 20-year-old hit Rashid for another six.
As soon as he hit the second six, the cameras turned towards the CSK dressing room where MS Dhoni was seen smiling at the youngster’s bold performance. While the former India skipper hardly shows any emotions on the cricket field, he could not help but smile at Rizvi’s performance.

Talking about the game, CSK posted a big total of 206 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, GT were on 29 for 1 in the fourth over at the time of writing this report.
