Cricketer-turned-commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu hailed Rishabh Pant ahead of his comeback to the field in IPL 2024. Sidhu believes Rishabh Pant will make a strong comeback in IPL 2024 and emerge 10 times stronger after his return.

Rishabh Pant is set to lead Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 after returning to the field after almost 14 months. Pant suffered a car accident in December 2022 due to which, he underwent multiple surgeries and rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA) for more than a year.

Rishabh Pant, who was the primary wicketkeeper choice for Team India before his accident, missed crucial international tournaments including IPL 2023 last year. In his absence, David Warner led Delhi Capitals last season as the team ended in the 9th spot in the points table.

Navjot Singh Sidhu is a commentator in IPL 2024 on Star Sports. During a conversation, the former India opener hailed Rishabh Pant ahead of his comeback. Sidhu praised Pant for his unique style of play.

“Rishabh Pant, I’m a huge fan of his because he has a unique USP. See, almost you can have your role models. Almost all absurdity of conduct arises when people imitate others. He has his own unique style. You know, the time to sweep, the time to pull, the horizontal back shots, and playing on the up in England”, Sidhu said.

Sidhu also termed Rishabh Pant a pocket-size dynamo, who will emerge 10 times stronger after his comeback.

“To come out of this injury and be back in the IPL, to have the tenacity to claw out of a difficult situation, will actually make you ten times bigger. A weak man is suppressed in a difficult situation, and a brave man comes out of it twice as strong. I have complete faith that the kind of pocket-sized dynamo this man is, he will come out strong”, the former right-handed batter added.

Shreyas Iyer is a bulldozer: Navjot Singh Sidhu

Sidhu also heaped praises on Shreyas Iyer ahead of his IPL comeback. Iyer missed the previous season due to injury but is back to lead KKR in IPL 2024. The reputed commentator feels Iyer is like a bulldozer who can adapt to any situation.

“See, Shreyas Iyer, he is a bulldozer. I don’t think he will ever play in the first year. He reminds me of a better Afridi. An Afridi with brains. This man has got adaptation skills.  He adapts according to the situation.

Not that he is changing gears. He is a smart Mumbai cricketer. There is a specific word that you use for Mumbai cricketers. He is another face of Grizzly Grits”, the 60-year-old concluded.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant is set to lead Delhi Capitals in match 2 of IPL 2024 against Punjab Kings on Saturday, March 23. Shreyas Iyer will lead KKR in the night match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 3rd game of the tournament.
