Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Sai Sudharsan played a vital hand for his team in the ongoing game against Mumbai Indians (MI). The Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad is hosting the fifth game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Gujarat Titans batter Sai Sudharsan was one of the shining lights for his team in the game against Mumbai Indians. The southpaw held the fort for his team when they kept losing wickets at the other end and made sure he took the team to a decent total.

Sai Sudharsan looked in great touch and played some crisp shots in his innings. He started off from where he left off last season and was looking all set for a big knock but he was undone by the brilliance of Jasprit Bumrah with the ball and Tilak Varma in the field at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad.

During the third ball of the 17th over Jasprit Bumrah bowled a short of a length delivery that was angling in. Sai Sudharsan flicked it and it seemed that the ball would go for a boundary. But Tilak Varma produced a brilliant effort in the field to remove the batter.

Tilak Varma judged the catch to perfection as he came in running and timed his forward well. The Mumbai Indians batter juggled a bit but the ball he clutched onto his body and sent the batter packing.

Sai Sudharsan played a decent hand for his team with the bat. Coming to bat at No.3, the left-hander ended with an innings of 45 runs off 39 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 115 and also hit three fours and 1 six in his innings.

Sai Sudharsan’s innings with the powered Gujart Titans to the total of 168/6. After he got out, Rahul Tewatia (22) played a brutal cameo that ensured Gujarat go past 150 runs. For Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 3/14.

I actually enjoyed that match-up with Jasprit Bumrah- Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan opened up about his innings during the mid-innings break. He said that the wicket is tricky and they have set a good target on the board. He also talked about his matchup with Jasprit Bumrah, saying that the fast bowler executed his skills well. He explained:

“I feel the wicket is a bit tricky and even the bounce is a bit low. They were getting some turns. I think this is a good target, hopefully, we save it. I felt this is not a wicket where you can just go after the bowler every ball, every over.

So I was just thinking of building the middle overs nicely and giving it to the finishers. He (Bumrah) bowled really well today and executed really well, I actually enjoyed that match-up. The dew is also a little less today, so I feel that the spinners might come into play and it might grip a little,” he concluded.
