Virat Kohli and his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammates attended the RCB Unboxing Event on Tuesday (March 19) ahead of the seventeenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). The event was organized at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, just two days after RCB’s historic triumph in the recently concluded Women’s Premier League 2024 (WPL 2024).
Smriti Mandhana-led RCB thrashed Delhi Capitals by eight wickets to clinch the first-ever title for the franchise. The men’s team came up with a heartwarming gesture for the women’s team by giving them a guard of honor during the event.
During the same event, RCB also unveiled their new jersey ahead of IPL 2024. Captain Faf du Plessis and his predecessor Virat Kohli were seen in the new jersey. For the new jersey, the Bengaluru-based outfit has shifted to the red and blue combination from the red and black combination.
A video of an incident that took place during the event has now gone viral on social media. In the video, Virat Kohli could be seen trying to tell a joke to his teammates but it fell flat. However, the former India skipper did not get disheartened and hilariously ran to another teammate to tell the same joke. The joke worked the second time as Virat Kohli and his teammate were seen laughing together.

Virat Kohli takes inspiration from WPL triumph:
Speaking at the same event, Virat Kohli hailed the RCB women’s team’s triumph in the WPL and is hopeful of replicating the success in IPL 2024. RCB has yet to win the IPL despite playing in the competition from the very first season.
“Amazing. When they won, we were all watching it and at that point, you realise the fan base in its absolutely purest form. It felt like the city won. The turnout during the games had no comparison. These are special things and it is something you create over a long period of time,” Virat Kohli said.
“Hopefully we can double it up with the trophies. That’ll be something truly special. I am always going to be here, try to be part of the group that wins it for the first time. I will try my best with my ability and experience to do it for the fans and the franchise. It is a dream of mine as well to know what it feels like to win the IPL,” he added.
