Virat Kohli, on Saturday (April 6), became the first batsman to score a century in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). He achieved the incredible feat during the ongoing game between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
After RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first, Virat Kohli led RCB's charge with the bat once again. He and captain Faf du Plessis shared a 125-run stand for the first wicket before the latter departed for 44. After du Plessis' departure, the likes of Glenn Maxwell (1) and Saurav Chauhan (9) departed cheaply as well.
However, Virat Kohli remained till the end to power RCB to a competitive total of 183/3 in the allotted 20 overs. The former RCB skipper reached his fifty in 39 balls before completing his century in 67 balls. He eventually remained unbeaten on 113 runs. His knock came off 72 balls and was studded with 12 fours and four sixes.
During the knock, Virat Kohli was also involved in a hilarious incident. The star batsman never shies away from showing his animated character and he was at it again while facing his former RCB teammate Yuzvendra Chahal. The incident took place in the 18th over when Virat Kohli slog-swept Chahal for a six. As soon as Kohli hit the shot, he hilariously pretended to slap Chahal.
