Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir fired shots at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the game between the teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He said that the Faf du Plessis-led is the team that he wants to beat every day. 

RCB vs KKR is one of the fiercest rivalries in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The two teams over the years have engaged in some high-class matches and have provided immense entertainment to the fans both at the Eden Gardens as well as the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. 

Not only RCB vs KKR has seen a tremendous brand of cricket, but the game has also been host to various heated moments. The rivalry took the hype when Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli were involved in a verbal altercation and since then all the matches between the teams have been high octane. 

The two teams are now all set to face each other in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be hosting Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday (29th May) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, in what will be the 10th game of the league. 

Gautam Gambhir is back with the Kolkata Knight Riders but as a mentor. Virat Kohli on the other hand will be playing against each team. The duo would be keen to see their team win. With the way things have panned out over the last few years, it promises to be a crackling game. 

Gautam Gambhir opened up about the battle against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He said that the RCB have not won anything but still have the attitude that they have won everything. Speaking to Star Sports about the same in an old interview, he elaborated: 

“One team which I want to beat everyone probably even in my dreams was Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They are the second most high-profile team, a flamboyant team with the owner and squad. Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers. They have not won anything but still thought that they have won everything and that kind of attitude.”

Gautam Gambhir further mentioned that Kolkata Knight Riders’ best wins in the IPL came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He highlighted wins, stating that it was a big thing because RCB had the most aggressive batting unit as well. He added: 

“Three best wins of Kolkata Knight Riders has ever had came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The first game of the IPL, Brendon McCullum against RCB. 49 all out against RCB. 6 overs 100 against RCB. It was probably the first time when 100 was scored in power play, Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine. 

“We always knew they are the very strong side and probably the most aggressive batting unit as well. Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers what can get better than this.”

Since the last few seasons, Kolkata Knight Riders have had an upper hand over RCB in the league. RCB are yet to win a home game against the opposition since 2015.
