India women lost the first ODI against England women in Bristol. They were outplayed in every department by a much experienced England team which played to its potential and extracted a positive result from the game. The second ODI in Taunton thus becomes a must-win game for the Indian eves who are trailing in the contest.
Apart from Mithali Raj, none of the other batters stood up as she lost out of partners at the other end. India finally scored 201/8 which was not enough to challenge the opposition. Their bowlers were also not equipped enough to make a match out of it. Veterans Jhulan Goswami and Shikha Pandey proved costly and the other bowlers did not have much to bowl at once the pacers gave runs away.
England, on the other hand, dominated the contest. Tammy Beaumont scored an unbeaten 87 and with her, Natalie Sciver scored an unbeaten 74. The England batsman looked in no trouble whatsoever in chasing the score down. Their game plan remains the same heading into the second game with India women cricketers required some thinking to do.
