The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is Pakistan's main T20 competition. It is organized annually by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The tournament was founded in 2015 while the first edition was played in 2016.
In the first two seasons of the PSL, five teams - Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators participated. Islamabad United won the inaugural edition with a win over Quetta Gladiators in the final.
After the second season, the PCB decided to make the PSL a six-team affair. Consequently, Multan Sultans were added to the tournament. In 2018, Islamabad United became the first team to win the PSL twice. They are also the most successful team in the PSL history, having won the tournament three times so far.
