She did her schooling from JVM Shyamali in Ranchi and Welham Girls' School in Dehradun. After her schooling, Sakshi completed her graduation from the Institute of Hotel Management and was working as an intern in Taj Bengal, Kolkata.
This is the place where she and Dhoni met and their lives changed forever. Since getting married, Sakshi has left the field of hospitality and manages her husband’s businesses.
MS Dhoni and Sakshi Dhoni's love story and wedding:
Not many know but MS Dhoni and Sakshi Dhoni knew each other from their childhood days before they met at the hotel in Kolkata. Both were studying in JVM in Ranchi where their fathers worked in Ranchi's MECON. Sakshi was Dhoni's junior in the school.
While Dhoni's family continued to stay in Ranchi, Sakshi's family moved to Dehradun. Interestingly, Dhoni is a native of Uttarakhand as well and his father moved to Ranchi in the 1970s.
Years after their last meeting in school, Dhoni and Sakshi met each other again in the late 2000s in Kolkata and decided to never part ways again.
According to reports, Sakshi and Dhoni were introduced to each other by the latter's manager, Yudhajit Dutta.
Sakshi was friends with Yudhajit as well. It was Sakshi's last day of interning at the hotel when she received a call from Yudhajit and eventually met Dhoni.
Later, the India cricket star got Sakshi's number from his manager and started talking with his future wife.
According to reports, Sakshi initially believed that the texts were not from Dhoni but from her friends as a prank. And she decided to ignore the texts before realizing her mistake. She was quick to reply to the texts and the two eventually fell in love with each other.
Both of them managed to keep their relationship under wraps before deciding to surprise the world by tying the knot in 2010. Sakshi and MS Dhoni's wedding date is 4 July 2010, just 3 days before Dhoni's 29th birthday.
The wedding reception was attended by several big names from Bollywood, cricket, and politics such as Farah Khan, John Abraham, Ashish Nehra, Harbhajan Singh, Sharad Pawar, and Suresh Raina.
Later in 2015, Dhoni and Sakshi welcomed their first child, daughter Ziva. She was born on 6 February 2015. Dhoni was not present with his wife when she gave birth as he was busy playing the World Cup for Team India in Australia.
