India will take on New Zealand in the third and final T20I of the three-match series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 1. The hosts will be hoping to win the series-deciding match to clinch the series. Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif feels that Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal can play together in the playing XI for India in T20I cricket.

Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal played together for the Men in Blue after a long time in the second T20I against New Zealand in Lucknow on Sunday, January 29. The Indian bowlers restricted the Black Caps to 99 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The wrist-spin duo bowled brilliantly in the match and picked up one wicket each.

You Have A Solid Batter At No. 7 – Mohammad Kaif

During an interaction on the Star Sports show ‘Match Point’, Mohammad Kaif said that both wrist spinners can play in the playing XI with the spinners in the team. The former India batsman believes that Washington Sundar has the ability to bat at 7, and the team need not worry about tailenders batting.

“Absolutely, you can do three and three. It is definitely on because they are quality bowlers. Kuldeep and Chahal bring with them a lot of experience. The guy who comes to bat at No. 7 is an all-rounder,” Mohammad Kaif said.

“With Washington Sundar being there, you can play around because you have got a batter at No. 7. You need batting till No. 7 only in T20 cricket because the No. 8 does not get to bat. So you have a solid batter at No. 7,” he added.

Team India chased down the target with just one ball to spare. Suryakumar Yadav and skipper Hardik Pandya made an unbeaten 31-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Surya remained unbeaten on 26 and finished the match with a boundary on the penultimate ball of India’s innings.
