New Zealand takes on India in the second T20I in Lucknow on January 29. The Kiwis registered their first win of the series after winning the first T20I by 21 runs. India needs to draw level in the second T20I to keep the series alive. The series continues the preparations for both teams for the ODI World Cup later this year.
The Kiwis finally found their groove in the first T20I in Ranchi. Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell scored fifties to take New Zealand to 176/6 in their 20 overs. After Fin Allen’s good start, Arshdeep Singh conceded 27 runs in the 20th over to help the Kiwis reach their target, Interestingly, Arshdeep gave only two runs in the 18th over he bowled and also picked up two wickets.

Arshdeep’s final over cost India big time which included a no-ball as well. Daryl Mitchell took the full toll of his mistake and ended on 59* to help the Kiwis post a competitive score. The Indian pacer went for 51 runs off his four overs after going for just 24 off his first three.
Chasing the big score India lost wickets at regular intervals. Suryakumar Yadav (47) was dismissed at the wrong time for India in the 12th over just when he looked set to get a big score. Skipper Hardik Pandya also scored 21. Washington Sundar scored his maiden T20I fifty and also picked up two wickets in the game. Mitchell Santner bowled a spell of 2/11 and turned the game on its head.
