Pakistan National Cricket Team History:

  • The first-ever international cricket match in current-day Pakistan took place in Karachi on November 22, 1935. The match was played between Sindh and the Australian team.
  • Five years after gaining independence, Pakistan received Test match status on July 28, 1952, at the Imperial Cricket Conference. Abdul Hafeez Kardar became the first captain of the Pakistan national cricket team.
  • Pakistan played their first Test against India in October 1952. The first home Test match against India was played in January 1955 in Dacca, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
  • Pakistan won their first-ever ODI World Cup in 1992 under the captaincy of Imran Khan. They have not won the World Cup since.
