Thinking about Triple Tons in Tests! Well, it is not just Virender Sehwag who has done it. Karun Nair is another Indian player who smacks a triple century in Tests. It was his best show and he is still remembered for the terrific ton.

Karun Nair is a right-handed batsman and right-arm spinner who has also played for Team India; however, only a handful of matches. He also bowls off-spin but is an occasional spinner. He bats in the top order and although he is not regular in the national team, he is active in the domestic circuit for Vidarbha.

Early and Personal Life

Karun Nair was born on December 6, 1991 to Kaladharan and Prema Nair. Although he hails from Kerala, he was born in Jodhpur City in Rajasthan. He grew up with his elder sister Shruthi Nair.

In 2019, he married his longtime girlfriend Sanaya Tankariwala in Rajasthan. The couple has a cute boy named Kayaan Nair, who was born in January 2022.

Domestic Career

The right-handed batsman was trained by B Shivanand during his childhood days. When he made his debut for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy, his team won the tournament with his help, as he smacked three consecutive centuries for the side.

Since 2013, he has been part of the Vidarbha team in the domestic circuit. Notably, Nair also plays for the domestic team of the United Kingdom- Northamptonshire and has been part of the British County Club since 2013.

International Career

Karun Nair is one of the players who have played for the national team, however, his stay was limited due to various issues like injuries and lack of space for the top-order batsman in the national team.

The Kerela Stalwart played 6 Tests and 2 ODIs for India during 2016-2017. He held a stunning average of 62+ across 7 innings in 6 Tests. In 2 ODIs, he scored 46 runs in total- 39 and 7. However, with his triple century after just 7 Test innings, he became a worldwide sensation in the world of Test cricket.

Franchise Career

Although Karun Nair could only play a handful of national games, he had a deep record in the Indian Premier League. Nair played his first IPL game in the 2013 season for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Later, he played for teams like Rajasthan Royals in 2014 and 2015 and Delhi Daredevils in 2016 and 2017. He also represented Kings XI Punjab from 2018 to 2020. He went back to his former team Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. However, he needed help finding a team in the last two IPL auctions.
