Karachi Kings face off Lahore Qalandars in the 6th match of the Pakistan Super League 2022 on Sunday at the National Stadium in Karachi. Karachi Kings have a new captain this year in Babar Azam. Though, he didn’t have a great start to his captaincy stint, after having lost the first game against Multan Sultans by 7 wickets.

Babar Azam looked far from his best against Multan as he played a scratchy knock of 23 off 29 deliveries. His counterparts, Joe Clarke (26 off 24), Nabi (10 off 17), and L Gregory (14 off 16) too failed to hit the straps.

However, a vital 43-run knock in 31 deliveries from Sharjeel Khan in the first 10 overs, though, helped the team post a below-par score of 124 runs in the first innings. There is no denying that the pitch wasn’t too easy to bat on. However, Multan’s batsmen applied themselves really well.

For Karachi Kings, Mohammad Nabi bowled well as he picked two wickets. However, he was, perhaps, brought a bit late into the attack. Multan Sultans lost three wickets in pursuit of the target but, eventually, chased down the score in 18.2 overs. Karachi will be playing their third game on Sunday and would be hopeful of a better performance with both bat and ball.

Facing them are Lahore Qalandars, who will be playing their second match of this season. For the unversed, Shaheen Shah Afridi has become the new captain of the team for this season. Sohail Akhtar has been relieved from the captaincy duties but is an integral part of the batting unit.

Lahore Qalandars have three big match-winners in the bowling department. The presence of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Rashid Khan makes them a team to beat. The trio performed well last year and would look to dish out match-winning performances this year as well. In the pace-bowling department, David Wiese is a notable inclusion, who will further strengthen the fast bowling department. The likes of M Hafeez and S Patel give the team spin bowling options and Lahore would feel a lot more assured because of that.

As compared to the bowling, batting looks a bit thin. The onus will be on the likes of Fakhar Zaman, M Hafeez, and S Akhtar. They have got a great hitter of the ball in Phil Salt. Though, due to national commitments, he will join the squad later in the tournament.
