The 11th match of the Pakistan Super League 2022 sees Karachi Kings take on Peshawar Zalmi at National Stadium in Karachi. Karachi Kings are currently sitting at the bottom of the table and are yet to win a game in the tournament.

They were beaten comprehensively in the first two games but showed some fight in their last game against Lahore Qalandars. Batting first against them, they managed to put on 170 runs on the board. Sharjeel Khan, once again, starred with the bat as he scored 60 runs in just 39 deliveries. Skipper Babar Azam also made a vital contribution of 41 runs in 33 deliveries.

However, the likes of Nabi (15 off 14), L Gregory (2 off 3), Imad Wasim (0 of 1) had a poor outing with the bat. The bowlers applied pressure right from the start of the second innings. Nabi and Asif removed Shafique and Ghulam inside the first six overs. However, Fakhar Zaman, singlehandedly, took the game away from them with some fierce ball striking. He scored 106 runs in 60 balls, helping the team chase down the score in 19.2 overs.

For the Karachi Kings, the likes of M Nabi (1 for 27), Imad Wasim (1 for 28), and Umaid Asif (2 for 30) returned with impressive figures. Perhaps, Karachi should have scored 20 more runs to the first innings total, given the fact that there wasn’t much help for the spinners.

Facing them Peshawar Zalmi, who too haven’t had a great start to their campaign. In 3 matches, they have managed to win only 1 and are coming into this game on the back of two consecutive losses.

Peshawar Zalmi’s bowling unit was ripped apart in their last game against Lahore Qalandars. None of the bowlers impressed with their line and lengths as Lahore Qalandars managed to score 199 runs in the first innings.

Skipper Wahab Riaz had a forgettable outing with the ball as he conceded 33 runs without a wicket to his name in 4 overs. Besides, the likes of Arish Khan (0 for 36 in 2 overs) and Usman Qadir (1 for 43) also went for plenty of runs.

In response to the score, Kamran Akmal gave the team an ideal start as he scored 41 runs in 24 balls. However, he lost partners at the other end during his stay at the crease. His wicket in the 9th over added further pressure on the team.

Haider Ali also looked solid and found form with a 49-run knock off 34 balls but wickets kept falling at regular intervals. In the end, Peshawar Zalmi fell 29 runs short of the target as they were restricted to 170 runs in the second innings.
