The Tamil Nadu Cricket Team represents the state of Tamil Nadu in Indian domestic cricket. The team is governed by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association and plays its home games at the iconic M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The Tamil Nadu cricket team is one of the oldest and most decorated teams in the Indian domestic circuit. Talking about Tamil Nadu Cricket Team's history, the team was founded in the year 1864. It made its first-class debut in the year 1927, even before India's premier first-class tournament, the Ranji Trophy began.

Tamil Nadu faced Marylebone Cricket Club in 1927 at Madras Cricket Club Ground in their debut first-class game. The team was known as Madras until the 1970–71 season before the Madras state was renamed Tamil Nadu.

The team has won the Ranji Trophy twice so far while finishing runners-up ten times. They won the competition for the first time in 1954-55 season before winning it again in 1987-88 season. In the last decade, Tamil Nadu finished runners-up in the Ranji Trophy twice - 2011-12 and 2014-15 seasons.

Tamil Nadu hold the record for winning the Vijay Hazare Trophy most times - 5. In 2006-07, they also became the first team to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The Tamil Nadu cricket team is also the only  team to win the five different Indian domestic trophies (Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Deodhar Trophy).
