Shardul Thakur is an Indian cricketer who plays for Team India an international cricketer. He is a right-arm pacer and a right-handed lower-order batsman.

Thakur plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. He has also represented Punjab Kings, Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

His IPL journey began in 2014 when he earned his maiden contract from Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab). He, however, struggled to find a place in the playing eleven that season as Punjab Kings were flying high and eventually finished runners-up. Thakur made his IPL debut in 2015 but played just one game before being released in 2016.

He was traded to the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017 before going to Chennai Super Kings in 2018. Thakur plied his trade for Chennai Super Kings for four seasons from 2018 to 2021. In 2021, he enjoyed a brilliant campaign in the IPL and helped the Chennai-based outfit win its fourth IPL title.

He was the third-highest wicket-taker that season, taking 21 wickets from 21 games. With Chennai releasing him before the mega auction, Delhi Capitals acquired his services for INR 10.75 crores in 2022. Later, he was traded to Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2023 before he was bought by Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2024.

Thakur's journey in international cricket began in 2017 and since then, he has represented Team India in all formats. So far, he has played 11 Tests, 47 ODIs, and 25 T20Is for Team India. He has taken more than 120 wickets across formats and has also hit five half-centuries.
