Star Indian middle-order batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, and of India’s integral member of the bowling unit in T20Is, Deepak Chahar, has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. As per media reports, both these players have suffered injuries right on the brink of the inception of the T20I series and hence, they won’t be available for the entire series.

Team India has been coming on the back of a lot of confidence with ODI and T20I series wins over West Indies.  The Men in Blue dominated the Caribbean throughout the tour as they completed a whitewash in the ODI and the T20Is too. However, in the last match of the T20I series, Deepak Chahar pulled off his hamstring and couldn’t take to the field after bowling for 2.5 overs in the match.

Suryakumar Yadav And Deepak Chahar To Miss IND vs SL T20Is

As per reports in Cricbuzz, Deepak Chahar hasn’t travelled with the team to Lucknow and now, he is all set to go under rehabilitation. As far as Suryakumar Yadav is concerned, Cricbuzz reports, “Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the upcoming Twenty20 Internationals against Sri Lanka. He was spotted at India’s practice session in Lucknow on Tuesday but Cricbuzz understands that the 31-year-old batsman has suffered a hairline fracture on his hand and been declared unfit for the white-ball series.”

“It remains unclear as to where and when exactly Suryakumar got hurt but it’s understood that he sustained the injury while fielding in the third T20I against West Indies at the Eden on February 20,” the report further stated.

Team India To Begin The Campaign With T20Is

The India National Cricket Team will begin the Sri Lanka series with the T20Is. The first match of the series will be played at Lucknow on February 24 with no fans in attendance while the last couple of games of the three-match series will be played in Dharamshala with a 50 per cent in-house attendance.

The caravan will then move to Mohali for the Test series wherein the first Test of the two-match series will be played followed by the final Test of the series being played in Bangalore which will also be a day-night Test match. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been rested for the T20I series while Ravindra Jadeja has made his comeback in the Indian team for the T20I and Test series.
