Sukumar Yadav played a crucial role in India’s comprehensive victory of 91 runs against Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I of the three-match series in Rajkot to clinch the series 2-1. Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma hailed Suryakumar Yadav for his excellent execution of the scoop shot during the third century of his T20I career in the series decider.

The right-handed batter has been in excellent form in the shorter format and became the fifth batsman after Rohit Sharma, Colin Munro, Sabawoon Daviji, and Glenn Maxwell to score three T20I centuries. The 32-year-old smacked the second-fastest century for India in T20Is, scoring an unbeaten 112 off just 51 balls with the help of seven fours and nine sixes, which included some of his signature scoops behind the wicket.

His Bat Speed Is Brilliant While Playing The Scoop Shot – Rajkumar Sharma

During a discussion on India News Sports, Rajkumar Sharma said that Suryakumar Yadav has mastered the scoop shot better than anyone else. Sharma pointed out that players like Tillakaratne Dilshan and AB de Villiers would acknowledge the Indian batsman’s ability to play the ramp shot to perfection.

“It was a fantastic knock. It was pleasing to see how he dominated the bowlers with his improvisations. His bat speed is brilliant while playing the scoop shot, which is not an easy thing to do. It is a very risky shot where the batter has to read the line and length of the ball very quickly,” Rajkumar Sharma said.

“It requires a lot of skill. Even the pioneers of the scoop AB de Villiers and Tillakaratne Dilshan would agree that Suryakumar Yadav has mastered it better than everyone else,” he added.

Suryakumar is part of the Men in Blue’s upcoming three-match home ODI series against Sri Lanka, with the opening match scheduled to take place in Guwahati on Tuesday, January 10.
