If we look at white-ball specialist seamers under Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni's captaincy, there are no doubts that Bhuvneshwar Kumar will top the list. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a right-arm medium pacer who has played over 100 ODIs and 80 T20Is for India.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is known for his brilliant swing attack. The right-arm seamer earned a lot of success in SENA countries. He also excelled in the Asian subcontinent and has been a regular member of Team India since his debut in 2012.
Kumar played for Team India in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, where MS Dhoni-led India defeated England to win the title. He was also part of the T20 World Cup 2014 and Champions Trophy 2017, where India finished as runners-up.
Bhuvi was a member of Team India in the Asia Cup 2016 and 2018, where India won the trophy.
Early Life
Bhuvneshwar Kumar Singh was born in Meerut City in Uttar Pradesh on 5th February 1990. His father, Kiran Pal Singh, was a police officer. His only sibling was his elder sister Rekha Adhana.
Bhuvi played for Uttar Pradesh Team in his early domestic career and grew up the ranks to grab a permanent berth in the Indian Team. He made his international debut in a T20I game against Pakistan in December 2012.
With his impressive swing attack, Bhuvi captured a place in the 2013 Champions Trophy, which was his biggest break just after his debut. He played in all three formats in his first few years in international cricket. However, his career was only limited to ODIs and T20Is later.
For instance, he could only represent India in 21 Tests but went on to play more than 100 ODIs and 80 T20Is. From 2012 to 2022, Bhuvi captured 294 wickets in international cricket.
Kumar was a regular member of the Indian team till the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, where India lost the semi-final to England by 10 wickets.
Later, Bhuvi lost his place in the national team to youngsters. Notably, Bhuvi was also part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, when India faced a humiliating first-round exit.
IPL career
Since the 2014 season, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. He was part of the SRH team that won the title in the 2016 season. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also won the purple cap twice in the 2016 and 2017 editions.
Over the years, Sunrisers Hyderabad has retained Bhuvi in the squad despite many changes. He is still a dominant force in the pace department. Before SRH, he was part of Pune Warriors and RCB. Bhuvneshwar Kumar made his IPL debut in the 2009 season.
Records
Bhuvi also clinched a few spectacular records in his career. He has stolen three Player of the Series awards and holds the 10th rank in the list.
He also registered figures of 5/4 in a T20I innings and takes the 5th spot in the list of best bowling figures. The right-arm holds the 3rd spot in the list of most maidens in his career with 10 overs.
