Tilak Varma is an Indian cricketer who represents Team India in international cricket. Tilak also represented India in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup. In domestic cricket, he represents Hyderabad while in the Indian Premier League, he plies his trade for Mumbai Indians.
Tilak shot to the limelight after impressing in his debut IPL campaign in 2022. Before making his IPL debut, he had impressed in domestic cricket. A left-handed batsman, Tilak was the second-highest run-getter for Hyderabad at the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
He scored 215 runs in seven innings at a strike-rate of almost 150. His performances made him one of the most sought-after youngsters in the country before Mumbai Indians signed him up for INR 1.70 crores in the 2022 mega auction.
Tilak justified the franchise's decision as he became a key member of the Mumbai Indians team straightaway. Such was his performance in his debut season that captain Rohit Sharma proclaimed that Tilak would be an all-format player for India in the future.
He scored 397 runs in his debut season before scoring 343 runs in IPL 2023. Two brilliant seasons with the bat helped him earn his maiden India call-up and he made his ODI and T20I debut in 2023. In 2024, he was once again impressive with the bat, scoring 416 runs with the help of three fifties.

Tilak Varma's father's name is Namboori Nagaraju. His father worked as an electrician. Even though Nagaraju struggled to make ends meet for his family with his meager income, he never compromised on his son's dedication to cricket. He completely backed Tilak to pursue his dream of becoming a cricketer.
Nagaraju identified his son's talent early and enrolled him in Legala Sports Academy for his cricket training. In the academy, coach Salam Bayash helped Tilak hone his batting skills. At that time, Tilak's father was struggling to cover the training expenses but his coach took care of it.
After Tilak made his debut for Team India, he made sure to credit his father and his family's sacrifice in his journey.
On the other hand, Tilak Varma's mother's name is Gayatri Devi. She is a homemaker. Gayatri also played a big role in shaping her son's career.
She too always supported his dream of becoming a cricketer. In 2023 when Tilak hit a fifty against Bangladesh in the semifinals of the Asian Games, he dedicated his knock to his mother. He had lifted the side of his jersey to show the tattoos of his parents.
