India might have lost the three-match T20 international series to Sri Lanka, but certainly, there have been experiments ahead of the T20 World cup and few players have booked a ticket already. India won the first T20I convincingly but lost the next two games after Covid-19 had ruled out as many as 9 regular players.
India fielded a playing XI with just five batsmen and six bowlers with no all-rounders and it had a big effect on how the game turned up. However, there were few positive signs for India in Sri Lanka, and here are 5 Indian players who have booked a ticket for the T20 World cup 2021 after the Sri Lanka series.
5 Indian Players Who Have Booked A Ticket For T20 World Cup 2021 After The Sri Lanka Tour:
Prithvi Shaw:
Prithvi Shaw was one of the best Indian batsmen on display in the ODI series as he looked very comfortable against the fast bowlers. He played all the textbook shots and took the attack to the bowlers from the start of the innings. He would have looked to get a half-century in the third ODI but perished after scoring 49.
Shaw has been so exciting to watch from the domestic tournaments to the IPL and he earned his place in the Indian team. His blistering knocks in the ODI series have earned him a place in the Test squad for England as well and it is almost a certainty that he will make it to the T20 World cup squad.
Suryakumar Yadav:
Suryakumar Yadav won the man of the series award in the ODI series against England with consistent scores in all three innings. He finished off the innings in the first game, made a useful half-century in the second ODI, and was dismissed after a good start in the third game as well.
He backed it up with another half-century in the first T20I and certainly, has been the best batsman from the Indians side. The right-hander has played some extraordinary shots and earned his maiden call up to the Indian test squad. He will be a much-needed boost to the Indian batting lineup in the T20 World cup squad.
Deepak Chahar:
Deepak Chahar showed his all-around skills in the series against Sri Lanka and he proved his worth in the team by winning a game on his own from a difficult situation. He played a breathtaking inning in the second ODI with 69 off just 82 deliveries coming in at 8 and won the ODI series for India.
Chahar will now be competing with the likes of Shardul Thakur for the bowling all-rounder spot in the team for the T20 World cup squad and he has been superb in the powerplay as well in the death overs. His improved performances have booked him a spot in the T20 World cup squad for sure.
Varun Chakravarthy:
His economy rate has been a big plus and he can bowl at any stage of the game which has been one of the main positives and he has booked a place in the Indian squad for the T20 World cup.
Rahul Chahar:
He may not be the first choice leg spinner, but certainly, he will be a great option as a backup to Yuzvendra Chahal and his impressive performances will certainly help his place in the T20 World cup squad.
