They are ranked 12th among the franchises that have spent more money and they made it to the playoffs in the 2016 edition with no trophies. They have a gross amount of ₹ 1,001,000,000 in the two years and Keshav Bansal (Intex Technologies) was the founder of the franchise.

Rising Pune Giants first played in the IPL in 2016 with a two-year contract for the two suspended teams of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. They are ranked 11th among the franchises that have spent more money and they made it to the finals in the 2017 edition despite not winning it. They have a gross amount of ₹ 1,275,500,000 and RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group was the founder of the team.

Pune Warriors India is ranked 10th among the franchises that have spent more money and they were founded in 2011 and were soon dissolved in 2013 to continue with the 8 team IPL. They did not win an IPL trophy and didn’t progress to the playoffs in any of the editions with a gross amount of ₹ 1,443,445,428. Venky of VH groups was the owner of the franchise.

Deccan Chronicle was the founder of the franchise in 2008 and they are ranked ninth in spending money among the franchises.

But they have transformed into spending the most money in the IPL in recent years after the change in the ownership. Manoj Badale is the owner of the franchise and they bagged the most expensive player in IPL auction history with Chris Morris going for 16.25 crores. Sunrisers Hyderabad are ranked seventh among the franchises that have spent more money with a gross amount of ₹ 5,566,772,800 so far. The franchise started in 2012 and have already won one trophy in 2016. They are known for bagging excellent buys for low prices and have been very successful in recent years. Kalanithi Maran, (Sun Group) is the owner of the franchise.

6.Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings are surprisingly sixth-ranked among the franchises that have spent more money with a gross amount of ₹ 6,744,397,500. They have been part of the IPL since 2008 and have won three titles in 2010,2011 and 2018 so far in history. They have made it to the playoffs in almost every year they have played except the last edition of the IPL. Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd is the owner of the franchise.

5.Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab recently changed their name to Punjab Kings are fifth-ranked among the franchises that have spent more money with a gross amount of ₹ 6,865,617,543. They have been part of the IPL since 2008 and haven’t won an IPL trophy despite making it to the finals in 2014. KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited is the founder of the franchise.

4.Delhi Capitals

Delhi Daredevils are fourth-ranked among the franchises that have spent more money with a gross amount of ₹ 7,402,072,422. Delhi daredevils changed their name to Delhi Capitals in 2019 and they have been part of the IPL from 2008 with no titles yet. GMR Group, JSW Group are the owners of the franchise that made the finals in the previous IPL edition.

3.Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders are third-ranked among the franchises that have spent more money with a gross amount of ₹ 7,692,973,650 over the years. Thye have been part of the IPL from the inaugural edition in 2008 and United Spirits is the founder of the franchise. RCB hasn’t won an IPL trophy yet in their 13 seasons and they take the number one ranking among franchises in spending money in the IPL.
