Umran Malik is an Indian cricketer who plays for Team India in international cricket. In domestic cricket, he represents Kashmir while in the Indian Premier League, he plies his trade for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

A right-handed pacer, Umran caught everyone's attention with his ability to bowl fast. In April 2021, Sunrisers Hyderabad roped in Umran as a net bowler. Later in September, the Hyderabad-based franchise signed him up as a "short-term Covid-19 replacement" for T Natarajan.

Umran made the most of the opportunity as he clocked 150kph on his IPL debut. Such was his impact that season that Sunrisers Hyderabad retained him even though he played only three games in his debut season.

He went on to justify the decision by doing well with the ball in IPL 2022. He picked up 22 wickets from 14 games including a 5-wicket haul against eventual champions Gujarat Titans. During the same season, Umran also clocked 156.9kph during the tournament.

The brilliant show in IPL 2022 helped him earn his maiden India call-up as well and he made his India debut during the tour of Ireland.

Umran Malik's parents are Seema Begum and Abdul Rashid. Both parents encouraged their son to work hard and pursue his dream of becoming a cricketer. According to reports, Umran Malik and his parents live in the Gujjar Nagar locality of Jammu and Kashmir.

Umran Malik's father, Abdul Rashid owns a fruit and vegetable store. Umran's father was a pillar of strength for him when he was growing up. In an interview, Rashid said that the financial issue never stopped him from buying cricket equipment for his son.

Umran Malik’s mother, Seema Begum is a homemaker and she too supported her son throughout his journey. In an interview, Umran revealed that even though he was scolded when he used to break the glass windows while playing cricket as a child, nobody stopped him from playing.
