Pakistan would look to register a series whitewash when they meet West Indies in the third and final T20 international at National Stadium in Karachi on Thursday. After winning the first T20I against West Indies by 63 runs,

Pakistan continued the winning momentum on Tuesday. The Men in Green beat WI by 9 runs to seal the series 2-0.

A combined batting effort from the team helped Pakistan post 172 run-total in the first innings. Skipper’s poor form with the bat continued as he, unfortunately, got run out for 7. Mohammad Rizwan (38 off 30) and Haider Ali (31 off 34), however, steadied the innings and set a nice platform for the big hitters to capitalize in the second half.

Iftikhar Ahmed got out cheaply in the first game. However, he came good on Tuesday, scoring 32 off just 19 balls. Perhaps, Pakistan couldn’t have reached 170-mark had Shadab Khan not played a vital 12-ball 28-run cameo in the death overs. His unbeaten knock was laced with 1 four and 3 sixes.

West Indies, in reply, were bowled out for 163 runs and thereby fell 10 runs short of the target. The likes of Shai Hope (1 off 6), S Brooks (10 off 4), and R Powell (4 off 11) failed to hit the straps. Nicholas Pooran (26 off 26) looked good in the middle but once again threw away his wicket after getting a decent start.

West Indies couldn’t have reached so close to the total had Brandon King not played a sensational knock at the top of the order. He kept West Indies’ hopes alive with a handsome knock of 67 runs off 43 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes.

Romario Shepherd later played an impressive 19-ball 35-run cameo but couldn’t help the team cross the line in the end. Ahead of the final T20I, the West Indies would look to earn their first win of the tour.
