Gujarat Giants (GG) had won the toss & opted to bowl first against the mighty MI Women. MI Women had a decent powerplay where they scored 40 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. Yastika Bhatia & Nat Sciver Brunt were involved in a 74-run partnership where they took calculative risks. Yastika Bhatia was keen on rotating strikes & was looking ominous.
Gujarat Giants (GG) skipper Sneh Rana’s decision to open the bowling with Ashleigh Gardner did wonders when she took the huge wicket of Hayley Matthews & dismissed her on 0 runs. Nat Sciver Brunt played the second fiddle as Yastika Bhatia was seen taking risks.
Yastika Bhatia involved in a huge confusion
At the end of 12 overs, the MI Women’s score was 84-2 where Yastika Bhatia’s score was 44 runs in 36 balls whereas Harmanpreet Kaur was on 2 runs in 2 balls. Sneh Rana was bowling the 13th over and on the 1st ball of the over, Yastika played the ball towards the short fine leg and straight-away started running towards the non-striker end where Harmanpreet Kaur sent her back but it was a bit too late where Yastika Bhatia was ran out at the striker’s end. Yastika Bhatia was dismissed on 44 runs in 37 balls where she struck 5 fours & 1 six. At that time, MI Women’s score was 84-3.

Crucial Phase for MI Women
MI Women would be aiming to get a score in excess of 150 which would give themselves some sort of chance against a dangerous GG batting lineup. All eyes would be on skipper Harmanpreet Kaur to play a significant knock for the team as the rest of the batting lineup is a bit experienced.
The role of Sneh Rana would be quite pivotal as the pitch is a bit on the slower side where smashing boundaries won’t be easy for the batters. GG are in a very precarious position where a defeat in this match won’t keep them in good stead in reaching the play-offs of WPL 2023 where it’s a must-win game for them.
