DC Women won the toss & opted to bat first against MI Women in the WPL 2023 final. DC Women got off to a shaky start as they lost 3 wickets in the power-play overs & scored 38 runs. DC Women dashing batter Shafali Verma was dismissed quite cheaply and she scored 11 runs in 4 balls. Skipper Meg Lanning stood tall & took calculative risks where the batters looked clueless against MI Women’s impeccable bowling. Meg Lanning had looked in complete control.

MI Women skipper Harmanpreet Kaur rotated her bowlers smartly and made sure that they don’t allow the batters to rotate the strike regularly. Issy Wong, the right-arm speedster, continued her good run where she took 3 scalps of Shafali Verma, Alice Capsey & Jemimah Rodrigues.

DC Women in deep trouble

DC Women would be aiming to get the score around 120 runs which would give the team some sort of chance to defend the match. The pitch doesn’t seem to be a belter where MI Women would have to play out the power-play overs carefully as a couple of wickets can change the complexion of the match.

MI Women would sense that they can restrict DC Women under 100 runs as DC Women don’t have a recognized batter present in the side where all the eyes would be on Jess Jonassen to play a breezy knock for the team in these tough times. MI Women bowlers have hunted in a pack where they haven’t allowed the batters to get their eye in.
