An injury to scare to MS Dhoni and unavailability of Suresh Raina has caused a lot of problems for Chennai Super Kings.

While there is no official word on Dhoni’s fitness, there can be a case when he might miss the next contest so as to be fully fit for rest of the tournament.

If he sits out, CSK will make Sam Billings keep wickets but they will have a big challenge to name a replacement for captaincy post as well.

Since Raina (unofficial vice-captain) is unavailable, other experienced players will be looked at for the job.

Here are three players who are in line to replace Dhoni as CSK’s captain –

Ravindra Jadeja The veteran all-rounder might make his captaincy debut in IPL in the tie against Rajasthan Royals.

He has played 141 games in IPL but hasn’t led a side in the tournament.

For first few years, he didn’t get much limelight and it was in 2012 when he came to the fore.

He was bought by CSK for an undisclosed amount after a tiebreaker with Deccan Chargers.

Since then, he has been the mainstay for CSK.

In IPL 2016 and 2017, he played for Gujarat Lions but had mixed results.

Now, Jadeja looks a better player while playing for CSK.

He was retained by the franchise on the retention day and now, he might get an additional responsibility with captaincy duties.

Harbhajan Singh Former captain of Mumbai Indians and present captain of Punjab state team, Harbhajan Singh might again perform the role of a captain in IPL.

However, it will come for a team he probably would not have thought of to represent.

He was bought by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL auction at his base price of Rs 2 Crore.

One of the most experienced players in IPL, Harbhajan might lead CSK in the next game if Dhoni opts out.

He has oodles of experience of leading teams at big stages and possesses an edge over other players.

Dwayne Bravo The former Windies captain and a veteran of 378 T20 games, Bravo is also in line to be named as CSK’s captain for a game or two.

He was retained by the franchise by the use of RTM card on the IPL auction day, which shows that franchise has big hopes from him.

Bravo’s experience in T20 format is unmatchable and his T20 skills are unquestionable, which keeps him ahead of all other players.

Dwayne Bravo will have big shoes to fill in place of Dhoni if the team management shows its faith on Bravo.
