Defending champions Mumbai Indians’ season is going from bad to worse with every passing game. On Tuesday (April 24), they had a golden opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Fortunately, their bowlers did a fine job by bowling out Sunrisers Hyderabad for a paltry 118.

However, the Mumbai batsmen failed to complement their bowlers’ effort. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. As a result, the chase never got the impetus. The hosts were eventually bowled out for a paltry 87.

With the game now done and dusted, here is a look at some interesting numbers:

1. Sunrisers registered their first win in four attempts at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

2. The game witnessed only the third instance in the IPL where both the teams got bowled out. The first such instance occurred in 2010 (third edition) during the game between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Deccan Chargers (DC).

Whereas, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) game last year (2017) became the second instance of 20 wickets claimed by bowlers in an IPL game.

3. The game saw as many as seven wickets falling during the powerplay. These are the joint most number of wickets falling in the powerplay overs in an IPL game at the Wankhede.

4. Mumbai Indians were 22 for three at the end of the powerplay.

This is the second lowest powerplay score for any team in the IPL games played at Wankhede. Mumbai Indians made 17 for three against Kings XI Punjab in the eighth edition (2015).

5.  Mumbai Indians’ total of 87 is their joint lowest total in the IPL. They were bowled out for the same score by  Kings XI Punjab in 2011.

6. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s total of 118 is their joint second-lowest total in the IPL. Their lowest total of 113 all out also came against Mumbai Indians in 2015.

7. The score of 118 is the second lowest total which any team went on to successfully defend in the IPL. Chennai Super Kings had defended 116 for nine against Kings XI in 2009.

8. Shakib Al Hasan became the fifth bowler to take 300 wickets in the Twenty20 format. He also became the first left-arm bowler and the third spinner after Sunil Narine and Shahid Afridi to complete 300 Twenty20 wickets.
