The clash between two of the best finishers produced by the cricket has created several debates in the recent years. Some claim MS Dhoni is the best finisher ever while others believe Michael Bevan still is the best finishers ever produced by the sport.

Australian middle order batsman, Michale Bevan is responsible for some wins for his side during the era of 90’s and early 2000s. MS Dhoni still is going strong during the twilight of his career.

England captain Michael Vaughan settled once and for all, who he prefers in his ODI team when it comes to the finisher’s job. Vaughan claims that it is a no-brainer that Dhoni walks into his team.

During the initial stages of his international career, MSD developed a reputation of being one of the hardest six-hitters in the game. His flamboyance with the bat coupled with his long locks enabled him instantly rise to fame.

However, with the added responsibility of captaincy, MS had to curb his natural destructive instincts. To finish games for India as well as consolidate during the middle overs, MSD had to be patient to bring out his natural game.

Bevan, on the other hand, was one of the most successful strike rotators of the game. Looking at the left-handers game, it is only fair to say that Indian wicket-keeper batsman did take a leaf out of his book.

MS Dhoni often stressed the importance of taking the game deep and applying pressure back on the bowlers during the death overs. This was essentially a Michael Bevan trademark.

Although the southpaw may not have been as gifted as Dhoni in the big-hitting department, Bevan is responsible for some successful finishes for Australia. His high average speaks volume of his abilities and still is amongst the highest the game witnessed.

However, due to MS Dhoni’s ability to strike the ball a ridiculous rate, enabled him to on Michael Vaughan’s XI.
