After suffering a seven wickets defeat in the hands of the visiting Sri Lankan team, Indian fought back strongly in the second ODI as India registered a mammoth total of 392 runs on the scoreboard courtesy some brilliant display of batting by Rohit Sharma as they hammered the Sri Lankan bowlers out of the ground. The openers laid a strong foundation where they young cricketer from Mumbai Shreyash Iyer capitalised and registered his first international fifty.

However, the stand-in captain Rohit Sharma drew all the eyeballs as he registered his third ODI double ton as he remained unbeaten on 208. To start off, Sharma played the waiting game as Shikhar Dhawan played the shots. However, as Dhawan got out, Sharma broke the shackles as he hammered the balls all over the park. He also 26 runs in an over as he muscled the balls to the boundary.

The social media erupted as the stylish batsman reached his third double century as congratulatory message started pouring from all rounds the corner. Out of all the special mention was of his former teammate Suresh Raina, who is currently out of the Indian squad. He congratulated Rohit for scoring three individual double hundreds and admitted that he thoroughly enjoyed the innings.

He wrote,”Not one, not two but three double centuries in ODI cricket. You made batting look easy and simple in this innings, @ImRO45 Thoroughly enjoyed it. Keep them coming always.

After posting a massive total, the onus will be on the bowlers now to restrict the Sri Lankan batsmen cheaply and level the three-match series.
