Updated - 25 Apr 2018, 06:33 AM

Arguably the most celebrated cricketer of all time Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar celebrates his 45th birthday today. Ever since the clock struck 12 wishes has been pouring in from all the over the world. He is not only a cricketer for Indians but a collective emotion and pride. The way he conducted himself during his illustrious career speaks volume about the man who inherited very rich values from a very small age. He had a family who lived their lives with dignity and in Anjali, the Master found a perfect life partner who was always with him during his ups and downs.

There is so much to speak about the man. More than being the greatest cricketer of his generation, the way he conducted himself both on and off the field differentiated from his peers. He had an aura about himself. During the early half of his career, India was heavily reliant on his services. The oppositions team knew that if they got Sachin out then half the battle was won.

He gave us several moments to rejoice. The twin centuries in Sharjah, the 98 against Pakistan at Centurion, 136 against Pakistan in Chennai, 140 against Kenya following his father’s death, 114 against Australia at Perth, 101 against England at Chennai, 200 against South Africa at Gwalior, 175 vs Australia in Hyderabad. These are just the glimpses of some of his extraordinary innings. I am bound to miss out a few given the fact that he has played so many special knocks for his nation.

Realising his dream of winning the World Cup

The Little Master finally realized his dream of winning the World Cup in 2011 when the Men in Blue lifted the World Cup at Tendulkar’s home ground at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was a brilliant tournament for Tendulkar as well. He smashed a couple of centuries and ended the tournament as the 2nd highest run scorer.

Ahead of the tournament, it was Yuvraj Singh who had confessed that he wanted to win the tournament for someone special. There were speculations in the media that it was maybe for her lady love. However, after India’s victory, Yuvraj revealed that it was none other than the Master. The entire team and the nation had wanted to win the World Cup for a man who has contributed so much to cricket and India.

So on this birthday Yuvraj sharing a picture with Tendulkar wrote, “Gotya master its time for cake wishing you a very happy birthday lots of love and best wishes always.”
