Who would have expected that Bangladesh would reach the finals of the Asia Cup 2018 without their major players? But, the exceptional determination by Mashrafe Mortaza has got the best of his players. Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar lauded the captaincy style of Mashrafe Mortaza.

Mortaza has been brilliant in leading the team while defending the low scores against Afghanistan and Pakistan. Speaking of the same, India’s legendary cricketer showered words of praise on the right-handed bowler.

Sunil Gavaskar wrote for Times of India that none would have expected Bangladesh to be in the finals of the Asia Cup 2018. However, he said Bangladesh deserves to be in the final.

Furthermore, he warned India that they will be on the wrong side if they take the opposition lightly. He went on to say that the intriguing final is on the cards at Dubai International Stadium on Friday.

”It’s not the final that most people were anticipating or expecting, but make no mistake, Bangladesh fully deserve to be in the final and if India takes them lightly then they could be in for a surprise too. The manner in which they stormed back after the loss to Afghanistan shows the resolve and determination of this Bangladesh unit,” Sunil Gavaskar wrote.

”Mashrafe Mortaza has led the side brilliantly with his field placements. The bowling changes and the team has responded in the most positive manner possible. Mortaza showed his captaincy by opening the bowling with off-spinner Mehidy Hasan and he got rid of Fakhar Zaman, who is capable of taking the game away from the opposition,” he added.

As Sunil Gavaskar said, Mashrafe Mortaza has been brilliant in his ranks to lead the team successfully. However, it would be interesting to see how Mortaza will deal with the pressure tonight against India.
