Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly believes MS Dhoni will need to keep scoring runs to stay in the Indian side. Dhoni hasn’t been in the best of forms as he was not able to score many runs on the England tour. Meanwhile, Dhoni has struggled to rotate the strike, especially in the beginning of his innings while facing the spinners. Dhoni has continued his form with the gloves, however, there is no denying the fact that runs have dried up for him.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni brings a lot of invaluable experience to the table. He can think ahead of the game and has shown the right path to Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. However, Ganguly believes Dhoni will need to come up with strong performances to keep his place in the side.

Dhoni will like to get into form.

Furthermore, the Prince of Kolkata is surprised not to see Rishabh Pant in the ODI squad for the Asia Cup. Pant’s style of play is more suited to the limited overs format.

“Asia Cup is a very important tournament for MS Dhoni. He is a great player and has scored a ton of runs but he won’t keep getting games just due to this. There is a time limit for everyone. I’m surprised to see that Pant wasn’t given a chance in this tournament”, Sourav Ganguly said while talking to IndiaTV.

In fact, the combative wicketkeeper Pant had scored a fine hundred in the final innings of the Test series against England. However, the selection for Asia Cup was made on September 1.

MS Dhoni was able to find his Midas Touch in the IPL. However, he could not repeat the same on the England tour. Dhoni has all the experience in the world to come up good and would like to get back into form in the ongoing Asia Cup. Meanwhile, the wicket-keeper batsman didn’t trouble the scorers in the first match against Hong Kong.
