It is going to be a dead rubber contest between India and Afghanistan in the fifth match of the Super Four stage in the ongoing Asia Cup 2018. India has already qualified for the final whereas Afghanistan has been knocked out of the tournament. Thus, the match is not going to have any such importance as far as the tournament is concerned. However, Afghanistan will have all to play for.

They have lost two close contests, however, they have fought hitherto their last breath. Thus, there were some harsh lessons for Afghanistan. They would have been gutted to be on the wrong side of the result but there was a lot to learn for them.

On the other hand, India has the most dominant side in the tournament as they have won all their contests and have been unbeaten. Therefore, they have been clinical in the six-nation tournament. Subsequently, India will look to continue with the impetus in the ongoing tournament.

Rohit Sharma scored his 19th ODI hundred against Pakistan in the last match and thus he would like to keep his good form going.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan was also on fire in the previous match against the Men in Green. Therefore, the southpaw batsman will like to keep up the impetus.

Middle Order hasn’t been tested yet.

Ambati Rayudu has done well in the limited opportunities he has got to bat in this tournament. Consequently, the right-hander will like to cash in.

Dinesh Karthik hasn’t also spent much time in the middle as the top order has done the bulk of the scoring. Karthik will like to cement his place with good performances.

Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav has got only one inning to bat in this competition. However, Jadhav has been superb with the ball and has done the job for India.

MS Dhoni (wk)

MS Dhoni hasn’t also received a lot of opportunities to bat. It won’t be a bad idea to give a promotion in the batting order to Dhoni like in the Bangladesh match.

Ravindra Jadeja had made a majestic return against Bangladesh whereas he could not make the most of it in the match against Pakistan.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has done a fine job for the Indian team. Kumar had gone wicketless in the previous match and thus he would like to get back amongst the wickets.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Khaleel Ahmed had impressed with his skills in the match against Hong Kong. Thus, India can look to rest Jasprit Bumrah and give Khaleel another chance.
