KL Rahul, the vice-captain of the Indian team, sounded upbeat prior to the team’s opening Asia Cup game.

India, captained by Rohit Sharma, will play Pakistan in their opening group game of the competition.

Rahul recently returned to the Indian squad following an injury layoff during the recently concluded Zimbabwe tour and captained the team to a 3-0 win in the one-day international series.

He was later named vice-captain for the Asia Cup. In the pre-game press conference questions about Virat Kohli’s form were raised.

We Do Not Give Much Importance To Comments: KL Rahul On Virat Kohli

“We are not worried about the form of Kohli, he has done many times for India – his mindset will remain the same to win the game for India – we all want him to get back into form,” the batter said in a pre-tournament press conference ahead of the game.

“We don’t really give much importance to comments. It doesn’t really affect a player, especially a world-class player like Virat will not be affected by what people are saying on the outside. He has had a little break and he is working on his game,” he further added.

Rahul stated that facing the Pakistan team will be a great challenge and that the rivalry and games between the two teams have always been intense.

Commenting on the game against Pakistan he said, “As players and as an Indian team as well, we always forward to this India-Pakistan clash because we don’t play each other anywhere else but these tournaments. So it’s always an exciting time and it’s a great challenge for all of us to compete against a good team like Pakistan.”
