Former India National Cricket Team captain and the current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, Sourav Ganguly, has backed modern-day batting great Virat Kohli, who has been struggling for runs, to return to form in the Asia Cup 2022.

Star batter Virat Kohli, who last scored a ton in 2019, has been struggling to make good contributions with the bat in the past few months. He last played for the Men In Blue in the series against England, where he performed poorly with the bat. In the all-format tour of England, Kohli registered scores of 11 & 20 in the Edgbaston Test, 1 and 11 in two T20Is, and 16 and 17 in two ODIs.

In an interview with India Today, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly said that Kohli is a big-match player and he has scored plenty of runs for the India National Cricket Team.

“Let him practice, let him play matches. He is a big player and has scored plenty of runs. I am hopeful that he will make a comeback. He is just not being able to score a century and I believe he will find his form in the Asia Cup,” Ganguly was quoted as saying in an interview with India Today.

Earlier, some reports asserted that Ganguly could emerge as one of the strong contenders for the next chair of the ICC as several countries may back him. However, the former India captain brushed off the speculations.

“See, these are all speculations. These are not right. This doesn’t happen so fast. These are all in BCCI’s and Government’s hands,” Ganguly added.
