Hasan Ali Should Have Been Rested A Lot Earlier: Mohammad Hafeez On The Pacer Exclusion From Pakistan's White-Ball Squads
The men’s squads for the Asia Cup and the Netherlands tour were unveiled by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) earlier this week, with a few conspicuous absences. Veteran player Shoaib Malik was left off the T20I team for the Asia Cup, and bowler Hasan Ali was also dropped after a spate of subpar performances.
Hasan, Pakistan’s out-of-form fast bowler, was replaced in the teams by uncapped white-ball pacer Naseem Shah.
Mohammad Hafeez, a former cricketer for Pakistan, has now elaborated on Hasan’s exclusion from the team.
Hasan Ali Is A Fighter: Mohammad Hafeez
The bowler needed a break after making numerous appearances for Pakistan, insisted Hafeez, who shared a dressing room with Hasan when he was playing. He also stated that the choice to rest the bowler should have been made by Pakistan a lot earlier.
“Hasan is a wonderful cricketer. I know him from his early years, he is a fighter. At certain stages in your career, when you are not going through the good form, you get mentally tired, even though you want to perform. I think the management was unfair to him in the sense that he was played in matches where he could’ve been rested,” Hafeez told Dawn.
