When Virat Kohli scored his first international century against Afghanistan on Thursday, it brought a huge sigh of relief to his face. After reaching the landmark on the 19th over, there was no irate celebration; instead, he was all smiling.
In a test match against Bangladesh in November 2019, Kohli scored his last century for his country, batting an unbeaten 122 off just 61 balls.
As he entered the changing area, cheers could be heard throughout the room. After a six-week sabbatical from the game, Kohli has been in outstanding form throughout the current competition. After Sachin Tendulkar, who has 100 international hundreds, Kohli and Ricky Ponting are tied for second place with 71 completed international hundreds each.
Virat Kohli Shares Moment With Bhuvneshwar Kumar
The fact that Kohli spoke briefly with bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar as Indian cricketers and team members were praising him for his great performance shows how significant this century was for the 33-year-old.
“Abhi hain cricket baki (cricket is still left in me),” At the boundary line, Kohli can be heard speaking to Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a masterful period of swing bowling that completely destroyed Afghanistan. He finished with career-best stats of five wickets for four runs in four overs.
Bhuvneshwar was able to move the ball both ways at whim as the circumstances helped him, leaving the opposition in disarray at 21 for six. At 111 for eight in 20 overs, their innings were over.
However, Kohli, who touched a billion hearts in his remarkable innings, owned the night.
Break Allowed Me To Enjoy The Game Again: Virat Kohli
A calm Kohli continued to discuss the difficulties encountered during the century drought, which lasted for more than 1000 days. Kohli gave his wife Anushka Sharma the credit for his century.
“This hundred is for her and for our little daughter Vamika as well,” he said. “Six weeks off (and) I was refreshed. I realized how tired I was. Competitiveness doesn’t allow it, but this break allowed me to enjoy the game again.”
