Team India captain Rohit Sharma went past Virat Kohli to become the second most successful Indian captain in T20 Internationals.

The charismatic leader achieved this milestone following the 40-run win over Hong Kong on Wednesday in the ongoing 15th edition of the Asia Cup at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Rohit Sharma became the second most successful Indian captain in T20Is

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian side made it to the Super 4 stage in the ongoing Asia Cup, following the game against Hong Kong and became the second team after Afghanistan to secure a place in the top four stage.

Suryakumar Yadav was the star of the match, playing a brutal knock of 68 runs in just 26 balls to change the game completely as India won by 40 runs at the end.

While doing so Rohit achieved his 31st win as Indian captain in T20Is, surpassing former captain and teammate Kohli, who won 30 matches out of 50 during his captaincy stint.

Sharma is now only behind Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who led India in 72 matches and won 41 of them over nine years (2007-2016).

Could have done slightly better with the ball: Rohit Sharma

While speaking in the post-match presentation, captain Rohit was pleased with the way Indian batting finished the innings. He further added that the bowling could have been better as two of the Indian pacers Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh went for runs.

“We batted pretty well to start with, got to a very good score. Came out and bowled reasonably well, we could have done slightly better with the ball,” Rohit said at the post-match presentation.

India are now the only unbeaten team in Group A and will be playing their first Super 4 game on Sunday (September 4) against the winner of Pakistan vs Hong Kong on Friday.

Afghanistan was the first team from Group B to book its berth in the Super 4 and will be joined by either Sri Lanka or Bangladesh.
