Team India was defeated by arch-rivals Pakistan by a five-wicket margin in the 2022 Asia Cup on Sunday. Pakistan won the game by chasing down a 182-run target with 5 wickets to spare, courtesy of match-winning batting efforts by Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Nawaz.

India did lose, but there were a number of positives for the team, notably Virat Kohli’s magnificent 60 off 44 deliveries, which hinted at his return to form, and rookie Ravi Bishnoi’s calm outing in a high-pressure game.

Former Indian player Gautam Gambhir made a big remark over Team India’s defeat. After the game, he compared two-leg spin bowlers Ravi Bishnoi and Yuzvendra Chahal. Hardik Pandya’s performance was also highlighted.

Ravi Bishnoi was called up as a replacement for Avesh Khan in the match against Pakistan. He took Babar Azam’s wicket and conceded 26 runs in his four overs. While experienced spinner Yuzvendra Chahal conceded 43 runs in four overs and got one wicket.

Following the performance of both bowlers in such a situation, former opener Gautam Gambhir stated on Star Sports “I think Bishnoi did a fabulous job today. He was the one who bowled the toughest overs in this game. Bowling the fifth over and getting Babar out, bowling the 18th over. Had Avesh been fit, probably Bishi wouldn’t have played this game. Chahal has been the senior over, and he has actually bowled the easier overs as compared to someone like Bishnoi, who is playing first game against Pakistan.”

Gautam Gambhir About Hardik’s Performance

Hardik Pandya performed very poorly in the second match of the Asia Cup 2022 against Pakistan. The player who played well with both bat and ball in the first match against Pakistan was unable to wreak havoc with the bat or wreak havoc with his ball. In the last match, Hardik reached the pavilion without opening his account in Mohammad Hasnain’s bowling.

“You got to give it to him. I don’t think India missed anyone. Probably, Hardik didn’t have the day that India expected him to have, but it’s fine. Cricket is a great leveller,” Gambhir added.

In bowling, he just had one wicket in four overs while conceding 44 runs. His economy rate was 11. After seeing his performance, the opener went on to say that Hardik Pandya’s performance was the only thing that kept the team from winning.
