On August 28, the cricketing world witnessed yet another gripping match between India and Pakistan, in which Hardik Pandya pushed India to a 5-wicket victory in Dubai.

On August 30, World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev stated that the match between India and Pakistan was a victory for cricket rather than a success for one nation.

It Was Not Like India Beat Pakistan Outright, Pakistan Too Could Have Won In The Last Over: Kapil Dev

When asked his thoughts on the game between India and Pakistan Kapil Dev told ANI, ” I think cricket won, not India or Pakistan. The game was so close and definitely one team had to win, the match was fantastic and it was not like that India beat Pakistan outright, Pakistan too could have won in the last over.

I think both the teams played well. It was a value for money game, every spectator got their money’s worth. The team which wins go with a smile while the team which loses says that they would try and win next time. I think that is sports is all about and I think India-Pakistan match is something that you can watch even in the middle of the night, you won’t get sleep watching that.”

India won the game courtesy of Hardik Pandya’s brilliance. The Baroda all-rounder bowled four overs and hit a quickfire 33* off 17 balls to help his team chase down 148 in 19.4 overs. Hardik was named Player of the Match on Sunday for his all-around performance.

The chase should have been simple, but India’s veteran top-three faltered, placing extra strain on the middle order.
