IND vs PAK: Naseem Shah To Make His T20I Debut For Pakistan vs India In Asia Cup 2022 Opener

Almost three years after making his Test debut, Pakistan’s young speedster Naseem Shah will finally make his T20I debut tonight (August 28). And the right-arm pacer could not have asked for a better occasion to announce his arrival in the shortest format of the game.

Naseem will be making his T20I debut against arch-rivals Pakistan in the second game of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. Asia Cup 2022 got underway on Saturday (August 27) with the clash between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Afghanistan opened their campaign with a thumping 8-wicket win over the islanders.

Talking about Pakistan, they have been placed in Group A alongside India and Hong Kong. On the other hand, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are placed in Group B. Pakistan will be eyeing a winning start to their campaign. With Shaheen Afridi out of the competition due to an injury, their fate will depend a lot on how Naseem performs against the Men in Blue.

Naseem Shah on making his debut against India:

Ahead of making his T20I debut against India, Naseem Shah spoke about playing his first game in the shortest format of cricket. He began by mentioning his recent ODI debut. Earlier this month, the 19-year old made his ODI debut against Netherlands and impressed straightaway. In three games, he picked up an impressive 10 wickets including a 5-wicket haul to help his team sweep the three-match series.

“I recently made my debut in white-ball cricket. I performed well there. No matter which format you play, your debut match is very important. This is a big match,” said Naseem Shah in the video posted by PCB on Twitter.

“We all know it is a big match but I am trying to treat it as a normal match and perform well,” he added before thanking almighty and his well-wishers for his latest achievement.
