The 2022 Asia Cup begins in a few days, and the competition is already being promoted as a Virat Kohli vs. Babar Azam showdown. While Virat Kohli has been an undisputed superstar, Babar Azam appears to have surpassed him in the last year or so.

Saba Karim, a former India cricketer, and selector, believes the continental event would not determine who is the better of the two.

The forthcoming Asia Cup 2022, which begins on August 27 in the United Arab Emirates, will see Virat Kohli make his comeback. One day later, in Dubai, the Men in Blue will begin their assault against Babar Azam’s Pakistan. After a vacation of more than a month, Kohli is returning to competitive cricket and will attempt to generate some runs after India’s tour of England failed to do so.

The legendary batsman Kohli failed to record a single half-century in the six innings he played across all forms in England, with his highest score of the tour coming in the rescheduled Test at Edgbaston with a score of 20.

T20 World Cup 2022 is required to compare Kohli and Babar: Saba Karim

In an interview with India News Sports before the competition began, Saba Karim claimed that a larger stage, such as the T20 World Cup 2022, is required to compare Kohli and Babar. He believes the Asia Cup will not be sufficient to determine whether the player is superior.

“The outcome of the Asia Cup will not determine whether the team is superior (Kohli and Babar). The T20 World Cup, where they will have the opportunity to compete against stronger teams and support their team in winning trophies, in my opinion, will serve as a greater stage for them, “said Saba Karim.

Kohli is likely to be refreshed as he enters the crease in an attempt to toil with the bowlers in the Asia Cup after a long rest. Babar, on the other hand, will be seeking to repeat his victory over the Indian talisman from the 2021 T20 World Cup.
