India vs Pakistan: Rohit Sharma On Verge Of Breaking This Sachin Tendulkar Record
Team India will return to T20I action in the men’s Asia Cup, where they will face arch-rivals Pakistan. Leading Indian batters such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to return to the game as India looks to improve on their 10-wicket loss to Pakistan last year at the same venue (Dubai).
Individually, captain Rohit will be aiming for a massive feat in the continental tournament.
The Indian opener is currently ranked second in the Asia Cup in terms of runs scored (883 runs in 26 innings). However, if Rohit scores 89 more runs in the first match against Pakistan on Sunday, he will surpass India legend, Sachin Tendulkar.
Tendulkar averages 51.50 in the Asia Cup, where he has scored two centuries and seven fifties in 21 innings. In fact, Virat Kohli is not far behind Tendulkar in the list, ranking third with 766 runs in 14 innings. Sunday’s match will be Kohli’s 100th T20I, which should set the stage for him to be back at his run-scoring best.
Rohit Sharma Will Hope India Get To A Winning Start In The Continental Tournament
The following are India’s top run scorers at the Asia Cup: Sachin Tendulkar – 971, Rohit Sharma – 883, Virat Kohli- 766, MS Dhoni – 690 Shikhar Dhawan – 613.
Following their match against India, the team will face Hong Kong in the group’s second and final game on August 31. The top two teams from each group will then compete in the Super Four round, competing against the other three teams for a spot in the final.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka make up the other group (Group B). On Saturday, the Dasun Shanka-led team will face Afghanistan in the tournament’s opening match.
