Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson predicted his winner for India vs Pakistan high-octane clash in the Asia Cup 2022.

The Asia Cup 2022 is set to get underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on August 27 when hosts Sri Lanka take on Afghanistan in Dubai.

My predicted winner is India: Shane Watson

The most anticipated clash will be India vs Pakistan on August 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the same venue where Babar Azam and his men posted a monumental win by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup last year.

This match will give a clue for both teams before they lock horns in Melbourne on October 24 in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Despite Pakistan’s emphatic victory over their arch-rivals in last year’s T20 World Cup, Watson feels the Men in Blue have a better chance of winning the upcoming fixture.

My predicted winner is India. They’re so strong and depending on what the conditions are, they can just adapt to conditions. So I think India,” Watson said on The ICC Review.

India vs Pakistan: Whoever wins that game is going to win Asia Cup 2022: Shane Watson

India has gone through a massive transformation since its embarrassing exit in the Super 12 stage. They are unbeaten in seven bilateral T20I series from November 2021.

Watson said the winner of the India-Pakistan game will eventually lift the Asia Cup this year.

“That first game is going to be very special to watch because Pakistan have full belief now that they can beat this Indian team. I think, really, whoever wins that game is going to go on and win the Asia Cup,” Watson asserted.

“[But] I’ve just got a feeling India [will win the tournament]. They’ve got so much firepower all the way through their batting order, so it’s going to be hard to be able to contain them,” he added.

There is a high possibility of India and Pakistan facing each other three times in the continental tournament.
