Pakistan Cricket Team suffered a massive defeat against Sri Lanka in the final match of the Super 4 stage. Sri Lanka would be over the moon as they won all the matches in Super 4 and are looking unstoppable.

Pakistan Captain, Babar Azam would be worried as once again their middle order got exposed. Pakistan & Sri Lanka are going to clash once again in the final of the Asia Cup 2022 where both teams would have got a clear idea of each other’s strengths & weaknesses.

Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka was the star performer in the run chase of 122 runs where he scored 55 runs. It looks like the Lankan side is finding match-winners quite easily which is making them a dangerous team. Sri Lanka Cricket Team have a huge advantage as they have 8 batters in their batting lineup where each batter has the license to go berserk.

Babar Azam & DRS

In the power-play overs when Hasan Ali came into bowl, there was an appeal for caught behind. Rizwan was pretty confident and made a strong appeal and umpires sent it upstairs. “Main kaptaan hu (I’m the captain).” Babar Azam said furiously to the umpires.

A Wake-up Call for Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Team now have seen that they don’t have a reliable middle order. The likes of Iftikhar & Khushdil aren’t sticking to the crease & playing long & effective innings. Pakistan would be aware that they can’t just win the Asia Cup 2022 in the form of their top order. Batting Coach Yousuf will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat as winning Championships requires teamwork rather than one man show.

There is no doubt that Pakistan can surprise the opponent as they are very much unpredictable. But having too many close matches is not a good side when the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is just steps away. The management would be aware of Babar Azam’s form is not at its best;  he has been the backbone of Pakistan’s batting lineup for a long time. It would be interesting to see how the Asia Cup final unfolds as both teams are evenly matched.
