Hong Kong Cricket Team dethroned the favourites United Arab Emirates (UAE) to qualify for Asia Cup 2022 main tournament. Hong Kong was termed as the dark horse for the tournament as they were relatively inexperienced as compared to the UAE. But Hong Kong had other ideas as they were the unbeaten side in the 4 team tournament (Kuwait, UAE, Singapore & Hong Kong) which led to their qualification in the mega event.

On reaching the main tournament, Hong Kong Cricket Team was over the moon as their journey was not an easy one. The team earlier had qualified for the 2018 edition but had almost given India a heart attack. The teams like Hong Kong don’t get an opportunity to play against top-ranked teams as they have to fight a lot to reach that level.

Hong Kong Cricketers Cherishing the moment

Hong Kong Cricket Team was seen celebrating the Asia Cup Qualification. They danced on the trending video of the Kaala Chashma bandwagon. The Cricketers were seen as joyful as they know the importance of the elusive Asia Cup 2022.

Earlier, the Indian Cricket Team was seen dancing on the trending video after winning the ODI Series against Zimbabwe by 3-0. It looks like we are going to see a lot of videos like that in the near future.

Hong Kong on a Roll

Hong Kong Cricket Team though had quite nervous matches as they defeated Singapore by 8 runs. The likes of Kuwait & UAE gave their all but the Hong Kong team had won crunch moments. The journey wasn’t that pleasing as  T20I Cricket demands a lot of hard work as the complexion of the match is changed within a couple of balls.

Hong Kong though would be aware that they have a steep road ahead. They are placed in a precarious group with India & Pakistan where both teams are title contenders. They would be hoping that they give a sniff to both teams as winning against these two opponents looks unlikely to happen. Nevertheless, Hong Kong would get ample experience in this Asia Cup which will keep them in good stead.
